The New Wei Literary & Artistic Salon is a regular gathering of dynamic NYC writers and multifarious artists with the goal of socialization, exchanging ideas and forging collaborations.

NYC has plenty of open mics, writing workshops, theatrical performances, speed dating events, art galleries etc. etc.–we have less actual places where established and developing writers and artists can meet, socialize, bond, understand their creative practices and ultimately create new aesthetics and collective enterprises through collaborations, aided by hosts dedicated to bringing writers and artists together.

The first meeting will be held on Tuesday March 28th 7pm-9pm at Pando 39, 54 W 39th Street in midtown Manhattan, in the style of an informal dinner including mingling, icebreakers and Human Library “checkout sessions.”

The Salon has no charge but we do ask that participants pay their fair share for appetizers ordered for the group, and encourage them to order drinks and entrees to be paid individually.

The Salon is open to all but please RSVP to Tejas Desai at thenewwei@gmail.com by Tuesday March 21st with names and number of people attending.

Hosts:

Tejas Desai created The New Wei literary movement in 2012 to promote independent, provocative and significant narrative artists. He is the author of the international crime trilogy The Brotherhood Chronicle which has won 15 literary honors and includes Amazon #1 bestsellers, plus the controversial and acclaimed short story collection Good Americans (The Human Tragedy, Vol. 1). He has performed or planned literary collaborations with musicians, filmmakers and dancers. He is also a librarian, manager, publisher, journalist, critic, amateur actor and international adventurer. He has no pets–yet.

Kacper Jarecki is a Principal Library Manager, voracious reader and cultural consumer. He is the author of the subversive Blue Rainbow Sprinkle novels and director of the cult classic film Eeeee eee eee. He wears blue–a lot.

Vijay Ramanathan (He/Him) is the Head Librarian of Kristine Mann Library, a cozy, esoteric, spiritual psychology library that is in the lineage of the 20th Century historical figure Carl Jung. He is currently studying at Naropa University to receive his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Vijay is a published poet and for almost five years he worked on the podcast The Truth to Power Show that streamed live and is archived on Radio Free Brooklyn’s app and website. Vijay seeks to empower others to authentically express their creativity.
